Sometimes we end up overlooking the best hanging spot in our home: the backyard. That's exactly what happened in Overland Park, Kansas. A family dreamed of having an outdoor space where they could relax, entertain friends, and enjoy family-time together. Their backyard lacked character, structure, or spaces for lounging. Set off the main level of the home was a worn-out deck with a staircase that led to a patio. (This "patio" was really just a bare slab of concrete.) This family was ready for a major transformation. They turned to Landworks, Inc. to install a functional and stylish space from Belgard.

The objective was clear: Carve out a relaxing spot that’s meant for both family-time and partytime. Here's what took place in this amazing outdoor transformation.

all decked out. A main level deck was constructed with a beautiful and unique combination of wood and stone. This pairing is especially powerful outside because it warms up the space and gives it a cozy, laid-back vibe.

sitting pretty. It's nice to have a landing spot that serves an actual purpose. And when it comes to the great outdoors, a sitting area for two is a smart idea. The builders created a mid-tier landing, which was set between the highest and lowest levels. This is the perfect resting spot for sneaking in a casual convo with a friend.

by the fire. An outdoor fireplace can instantly turn your yard around. It's an open invitation for family and friends to gather around, tell stories, and dine. The vibe is living room cozy. The homeowner selected the Nottingham Fireplace from the Elements Collection for their outdoor space.

going green. A backyard is not complete without well-manicured landscaping, which can define a space. From lush green trees to beautiful blooming flowers, there are so many options. This Kansas backyard came to life with an assortment of trees, shrubs, roses, blue and green spruces, and more. Now that's a pretty space–any season of the year.
